June 21st saw the Irish chapter of the Ford RSOC meet for a public show at Boland Motors, New Ross, Co. Wexford. The show was all about quality, rather than quantity, even though there were still over 50 cars in attendance. From The above ultra rare Broadspeed car to the new MKII RS, this show had it all for the blue oval fanatics. More after the jump …
The new MKII Focus RS made its debut at an Irish show and what a stunning car in the flesh it is. From speaking to the owners of the two cars, it seems that Ford may have been right to ditch AWD in favour of their patented revo-knuckle technology.
The flared arches are a cue to the no holds barred drive on offer.
I’m loving this rear diffuser, although it may have been better in carbon ?
Same with the rear spoiler, although at nearly €20k less than its AWD counterparts, I can live with the black.
The interior boasts both creature comforts and functional utilities like the built-in pod of gauges in the centre of the dash.
Like the MK1 RS, Recaro have provided these beautiful seats.
It doesn’t look too shabby in the optional blue either !
This MKII RS1800 was a timewarp car. It was appropriately placed in Bolands new showroom. I can’t remember even seeing a new car this clean.
Had to include another image of the Broadspeed MKI. I’ll put together a more indepth post on this shortly.
The original FWD king was still attracting looks.
Another car suited to the showroom was this spectacular Lotus Cortina.
The quality outside was still on par with what was behind the glass wall. A special mention to my fathers blue Escort in the foreground of this shot !
Snapped this at the end of the shows, there is something about a lineup of Sierra Cosworths that just does it for me …
These dished RS wheels were pure automotive porn.
The Escort Cosworth can still hold its own against the new breed.
This WRC replica had the power to back up its looks. Underneath the vinyl is a stripped out MK1 RS complete with cage …
This flat nosed MKII Escort was beautifully prepared.
Even the RSTs were on display, this example stood out most for me.
